Book – Attitude Is Everything
Author – Jeff Keller
Genre – Non-Fiction
As goes our custom of writing about books, let’s begin with a dose of positivity from the book, Attitude Is Everything.
A Happy Person is Not a Person in a Certain Set of Circumstances, But Rather a Person With a Certain Set of Attitudes.
The book Attitude Is Everything has been authored by one of the most prominent motivational speakers, Jeff Keller.
Through this book, Keller has tried to reinforce in us the idea that how important it is to monitor the way we:―
- Think,
- Speak, and
- Act.
Attitude Is Everything ― Book Summary & The Powerful Lessons:―
Favorite TakeAway ― We cannot change the fact that people will ACT in a certain way. We cannot change the INEVITABLE. The only thing we can do is PLAY on the one string we have, and that is our ATTITUDE.
The book is very well structured and is divided into 3 parts. Let’s discuss the 3 parts in brief:―
Lesson 1: Our Thoughts:―
Favorite Lesson ― IF you DON’T TAKE CONTROL and DEVELOP your own MOVIES, your subconscious mind will look into the “ARCHIVES” and keep RE-PLAYING the older, not-so comforting ones.
This part of the book deals with the role of our attitude and belief in shaping our destiny. Our attitude is our window to the world. We all start our lives with a clean mental window but as we grow up, the attitude window gets clouded by rejections, disappointments, and criticisms.
The biggest irony is that instead of making efforts to clean the filthy mental window (changing our attitude), we gradually get adjusted to the blurry view and end up giving up on our dreams. Thus granting the negative thoughts control over our Destiny.
Lesson 2: Our Words:―
This part deals with how the words we choose propel us towards our goals.
Keller suggests that our success largely depends on the diet(words we choose) we put our minds at. These words can build a bright future, destroy opportunities, or help maintain the status quo.
The process looks like this―
Thoughts → Words → Beliefs → Actions → Results
Our words reinforce our beliefs and our beliefs create our reality.
Let’s understand this through a simple example:―
When you keep saying, you can’t code for 4 years of your undergrad, you program your mind to believe that you can’t code.
Keller insists on choosing words that position you in the direction of your goals because incessant feeding of negative words will only lead to the reinforcement of negative beliefs and eventually to negative outcomes.

Lessons 3: Our Actions:―
Favorite Lesson ― Life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it.
This is the most important part because even if we think and speak positively, we won’t achieve what we want until we ACT.
We need to ACT in the direction of our GOALS to convert our dreams into reality.
Keller dares us to ―
- Have the courage to enter the arena and fail.
- Shed our unfathomable obsession with procrastination
- and, ACT without any further delay.
