For the past few months, I have been busy searching for books that can infuse hope. Recently while rereading Charles Bukowski’s You Get So Alone at Times, my brain cells got stuck on a poem from Bukowski that exquisitely summed up the emptiness we all often feel in our lives.
A stubborn, strangulating emptiness that never seems to go away. An emptiness that takes away all the punctuations we need to make sense of our life. It’s like your lungs are in the best of their shape, working at the best of their capacity but you still are feeling breathless.
Here is the poem―
Charles Bukowski on Emptiness in Life in his book, you get so alone at times:―
There is a place in the heart that
will never be filled
a space
and even during the
best moments
and
the greatest
times
we will know it
we will know it
more than
ever
there is a place that
will never be filled
and
we will wait
and
wait
in that
space.
We will wait and wait in that space.
