These words have the capability of shaping the master key to success for every field. In so simple words, the author has highlighted, how important it is to keep refilling our basket of knowledge to stay relevant in modern times.
The book “Growing as a Human Being” by Askash Shukla is a collection of about 37 enriching lessons covering some of the most important spheres of Human life. As the title suggests, it’s about growing as a human being by ditching some of our negative qualities such as greed, ego, hatred , jealousy and anger.
The book has a lot of wisdom on offer which range from something as basic as maintaining our vehicles to as hefty as uplifting our fellow humans.
Some ideas such as “power of experiencing things oneself” as depicted through an example of meditation would definitely resonate with the readers.
The book also brings to the table some of the forgotten ideas such as serving the humanity, uplifting our fellow humans, helping the underprivileged and praying without intention of benefits.
In addition to these, it also puts forth some of the modern issues such as overuse of social media and too much negativity in people and at the same time presents some pragmatic solutions to address them.
My Opinion :-
Positives :-
Each and every chapter of this book addresses an issue related to Humans. The good thing is that the author not only unearths the problems but also proposes solutions. “Growing as a Human being” really has mettle of helping us thrive as a human.
The author, though a teenager, seems to have an expertise on human behavior, as is reflected through his thoughts in the book. This book clearly reinforces the fact that knowledge has nothing to do with age.
Negatives :-
The editing of the book, particularly in the 1st few chapters is not at all good. In addition to that there are some grammatical mistakes which I think should definitely be taken care of in the coming editions.
Despite these negatives, the book is definitely worth reading.
Barring some parts, throughout the book, one cannot believe that these are thoughts of a 17 year old. Kudos to the author, Aakash Shukla.
Here I am leaving you with some of my favorite quotes from the book :-
