The book Happily Married Happily Divorced is a story of a young and ambitious girl Varushka, who wants to make it big before “settling down”.
Contrarily, as is the case with most of the Indian parents, her parents want her to get married so that they are free from their so-called responsibility.
Though she initially resists but soon succumbs to all the emotional pressure and agrees to marry an NRI Mitash, who seems to be an eligible bachelor with a captivating personality. His practical approach towards life impresses Varushka. They soon get married and leave for Amsterdam. Mitash gets her admitted into a college so that she could realize her dreams and remain an independent girl.
Mitash’s friend Enrique lives with them and the trio has a lot of fun together. For Varushka , her marriage turns out to be no less than a fairy tale.
But as fate would have it, Varushka soon discovers the hidden truth and feels betrayed.
Did Mitash really betray Varushka?
What led to their divorce, that too a happy one?

My opinion:-
The book is much more than a normal love story. It’s a tale of love, travel, adventures, emotions, separation, and rediscovery.
It highlights some of the extremely important social issues like dowry system, the taboo around divorce, parents pressurizing their children for marriage, how even educated intelligent girls are forced to stop working after marriage.
We live in a society where even the mention of the word divorce is considered a criminal act, no matter how disfigured the relationship has become. This book clearly states that sometimes, Happiness lies in Separation.
The author Swati has exquisitely expressed the character of both Varushka and Mitash.
Varushka is a modern Indian girl who is well-educated and is fearless. On the other hand, Mitash’s character is so mesmerizing that readers will fall in love with him.
Even though it is him, who is responsible for divorce, but still his character is such that you will not be able to hate him.
Though the story is a little slow in the beginning, but once it picks up, it will keep you glued.
Lastly, I would like to thank the author Swati Kumari for writing such a brave story, covering such a sensitive topic with such effortlessness.
