Genre – Fiction
Author – Abhaidev

As is the custom of our reviewing method, let’s begin with a thought-provoking quote from the book.
If everything is predestined, what’s the fun in that? Humans must surprise the Almighty at times.
As the above quote suggests, the book is a fictional story appealingly blended together with crackerjack philosophy.
About the Book:-
It’s a story of an IT employee, Subodh, who is perceived to be an immature man by everyone, but he isn’t bothered until one day, his love interest rejects him, invoking the same reason.
Although downtrodden after knowing the thoughts of Sneha on him, he still gathers courage for the trip the next day because he didn’t want to be the center of gossip after missing out.
After coming back from the trip the story takes a staggering turn. Subodh stumbles across a mysterious woman Kalpana who is surprisingly well-versed with the problems of Subodh and at the same time has plausible explanations for all the chaos in his life.
He starts liking her company and makes it a custom to interact with her before going to sleep.
And, from here begins his journey of Self-discovery which ranges from doubting his sanity to realizing his potential.
The entire journey is extensively soaked in some life-changing philosophical conversations. These conversations can convincingly be called “the powerhouse of wisdom”.
Positives:-
The book unequivocally has a lot of wisdom on offer and at the same time has all the required components to be called a perfect read.
The heavenly conversation between Kalpana and Subodh puts light on some of the most complicated topics in everyone’s life.
The book has inspiration too, for instance, when Subodh buys an antique key and thinks that the key will remind him that there is a lock to open.
Frankly speaking, initially, I was skeptical about picking this book as I wrongly assumed it to be a hackneyed love story. But, after reading it for about 10 minutes, I was assured that I had made the right choice. I was so impressed by the story that I started reading about the background of the author.
Negatives:-
The First half of the book was beyond expectation and I literally was not able to put it down. But undoubtedly, it loses some momentum in the second half.
Another problem is that in the initial pages of the book, there are some spelling mistakes which I found weird because it was the second straight book from Write India in which I encountered this issue.
Apart from these small issues, this is really a beautiful book and definitely worth reading.
Here, I’m leaving you with some of the life-changing quotes from the book:-
1. The problem with the world is that people are busy searching for keys but don’t know the locks that they would open.
2. Misery, my friend, is necessary. Otherwise, Happiness will lose its charm.
Grab your copy and begin your philosophical journey with “That Thing About You”. It’s a must-read for all philosophical fiction lovers.
Happy Reading!
