We have got into a habit of keeping ourselves so much occupied that we have time for everyone except ourselves.
Even the tender of free time has been given to social networking. Thus all we are left with is thoughts of others. Self-thoughts remain elusive. And, so does happiness.
All we are left with is silly comparisons, redundant information, and the self-devastating influence of others.
Free time for oneself is the prime need for happiness. No, it’s not loneliness it’s a date with your inner self.
When you develop the habit of sitting idle with the working mind, groundbreaking ideas will follow. And, these ideas can change your life.
Let’s see what we will actually gain through this:
#1: Victory over gerrymandered comparisons:
We never think while comparing. We compare in a gerrymandering way.
We compare someone’s skills at resonating frequency to ours at the dissonating frequency.
Mr. Gupta’s daughter got admission in IIT
Mr. Sharma’s son has become an IAS
Mr. Singh’s daughter went abroad for further studies.
But, I still have not achieved anything.
How is such an abominable thought for yourself justified??
Mr. Sharma’s son became an IAS maybe because he dreamt of being one and the same goes for others.
You didn’t because you are working hard on your dream, not on Mr. Sharma’s or his son’s dream.
The root evil of this gerrymandered comparison is our habit of not spending time to know ourselves. When you spend time with yourself you start appreciating yourself and that shitty sadness is metamorphosed into happiness.
I hope that one day, the protagonist would realize that it’s his story and hence would stop the supporting actors from playing the lead role.
#2: Control flood of information:
With the growth of the internet, we have been flooded with so much information that there is an imperative need to activate some kind of filtering mechanism.
Why will you be interested in what Sam is eating in breakfast? Which song is Mandy listening to? Which book is Jaskaran reading?
Unless you are stalking someone, such input is worthless. It will only lower the eminence of your output.
All you need is the ability to construct the gates that can filter the useful information from utter moonshine
#3: Less influence of others:
We no longer have our thoughts, all we are left with is, thoughts manufactured through outsourcing. Yes, outsourcing because all we are doing is copying and pasting.
We no longer take time to create our own ideas.
We pick up religion from parents, competition, and ego from school, habits from friends, jealousy from college, and by the time the chemical reaction of graduation is completed we have lost ourselves as the by-product
Saying that I don’t give a fuck about people, will not help you lose the influence of others but giving time to yourself will because it’s you who can best make out what you want.
#4: A never seen desire to learn:
Of late we have picked up this habit of learning for exams, learning to impress others. The problem is that we have lost the habit of learning for ourselves and that’s the reason behind our unhappiness.
Happiness will never leave your side if you learn to appreciate what you have and inculcate the habit of learning for yourself. Yes, learning for yourself.
And, this will be possible when you start giving time to yourself
Once on that path, you will soon be able to implant the deadly duo of comparison and desire into yourself.
Comparison with your older self and desire to outdo your present self.
