8 Best Punjabi Songs To Dedicate To Your Father

Best Punjabi Songs on Fathers

Fathers, like mothers, are pillars on which the future of their children stand. Several studies have found that affectionate and supportive fathers, positively contribute to a child’s emotional, social, and cognitive development.

Despite such a great contribution to the child’s development, a father-child relationship is also, sometimes the most strained one. The justification lies in the job description of fathers. In most families in India, fathers are the rule-setters and enforcers.

Many writers have expressed this in their words. But, here I’m sharing with you, two of my favorite descriptions,

In the words of Sharry Maan, from the song Meri Bebe,

Ehnu (Maa Nu) ki Samjhawan Rabba
Naal Baapu Swabha da Kabba

Also in the words of K.A. Hill from the book, The Winners’ Guide

Dad, despite the fact you can be a right grumpy bastard, I’m so incredibly grateful to have you in my life.

Jokes Apart, There is no denying the fact that fathers truly serve as a landmark of stability as the kid navigates the winding road towards adulthood

To reciprocate our love for this selfless( a little Kabba too;) ) community, here, we’ve curated a list of 7 lyrically meaningful Punjabi songs that truly celebrate the greatness of fathers.

#1: Baapu by Amrinder Gill

Mainu Mere Bapu de, Khawab Sare Yaad ne

This song by Amrinder Gill will definitely resonate with everyone struggling to fulfill their father’s dream. Amrinder Gill is literally the Cal Newport of Punjabi cinema. He is not at all active on Social Media. Stays away from the limelight for most of the time.

Who knows, maybe it’s these blocks of time free from the ostentatious world that’s helping him in his astronomical success in the Industry.

This song from Amrider Gill will definitely encourage you all to fulfill the dreams of your father.

#2: Blessings of Baapu by Gagan Kokri

Jatt Audiyan ch Ghum da Fire ik Baapu wale Ford Karke

This song from Gagan Kokri will surely leave you wanting to hug your father. It shows the struggle of a father in the success story of his son.

I’ve always felt that a father is not given enough credit in our culture. Finally, a song that gives long-due credit to all the lovely fathers out there. Perhaps, one of the most selfless creatures manufactured by God.

Karan Aujla’s words, “Kishtan Te Honda Mainu Lai Ta c” are really very special.
Also, Yograj Singh flaunting his mustache at 2:59 minutes captures the exact level of ecstasy, most of us would like to see our fathers in 😉

#3: Baapu Nu Aish by Harvy Sandhu

Ik Dil da Khaab Adhura ae, Baapu di Taur Banauni aa
Ohde Sir te Aish main Badi Keeti, Hun Baapu nu Aish karauni aa

Another song on the greatness of fathers. This one from Harvy Sandhu expresses the long-cherished dream of most middle-class children, to give all the possible happiness to their parents.

And why not?

After all, they are the ones who have sacrificed the most important phase of their lives in fulfilling our wishes.

#4: Mera Baapu by Harvy Sandhu

Jad Meri wari Aayi Aish kraune di
Tu ta Tod Giya Yaara, Adh Vichaaleo Yaari nu

There is a popular saying, “We are so busy growing up, we often forget they are also growing old.” And that is very well evident from Harvy’s story.

While Harvy has finally achieved the level to be able to give all the worldly comforts to his father, life had some other plans. He lost his father this June. He has expressed his grief in these emotionally overwhelming words.

The above-quoted words mean, “When it was my time to serve you, you broke the friendship and left.”.

The lesson is loud and clear, celebrate your parents while you have them.

#5: Bapu Tere Karke by Amar Sandhu

Bapu Tere karke Main Pairan te Khalo Gaya,
Tu Cycle’ an Te Katti Te Main Gaddi Joga ho gaya

This song by Amar Sandhu is one of my personal favorites. The calmness with which Amar has sung this song has added another dimension to it. I can undoubtedly say, this is one of the most heart-warming songs ever made on fathers.

The line, Mere Fikran ch Hogi Daarhi Chitti really hit me hard.

#6: Baapu by Garry Sandhu, R Cheema & Vikk Cheema

Baapu De Cycle Te Jo Pind Nazara Si,
Oh Behke Mileya Na Vich Mehngiyan Caraan De

This song highlights one of the most important realizations of us as an adult.
The happiness we used to get in a cycle ride with our father can nowhere be found in these big cars.

Time is really one of the most cunning merchants, it taxes us heavily on our journey towards adulthood.

#7: Maujan by Baljit Malwa

Oh Maujan Bhulniyan Nahi Jo Bapu De Sir Te Kariyan.

This song by Baljit Malwa again makes for a great emotional watch. Jelly Manjitpuri has very aptly put in words the blithely unconcerned kind of life most of us have lived under the remarkably administered biospheres of our fathers.

Walk down the memory lane of your childhood with this overwhelming music video.
Make sure you have a box of tissues ready while listening to this one.

#8: Baapu by Sidhu Moosewala

Ho Duniya di Kehdi Sheh Chahidi Das Baapu
Putt Tera Hun Aine Joga ho Gaya ae

This is a  crackerjack source of peace from Sidhu Moosewala.  Most of the middle-class kiddos have at least once in their lives aspired to reach a position from where they can ensure every possible “happyness” of their Kabba but hard-working father 😉

This one from Sidhu depicts exactly that situation when you have finally achieved enough to fulfill all the dreams of your father.

In the words of Sidhu Moosewala,

Jo Bhijjiyan Akhan Teriyan ne Kade Dekhe si
Mukam Aise oh Nikki Umre Chho Gaya ae
